Why Is This on the Roadmap? Traceability From Roadmap to Evidence

Open a roadmap item in Shorter Loop and read the claims behind it. Each one is marked Backed, Evidence disagrees, or Untested, and one click opens the feedback, documents, analytics or related work that produced that verdict. Six months after the call was made, the item still shows what it rested on and whether the evidence has since moved.

Product team linking customer insights to roadmap decisions in a collaborative workspace

The walkthrough: from a customer complaint to a roadmap item you can defend

Six steps, in order, using the pages you already have in the left rail. Follow them on your own product.

Step 1: Collect the feedback

Ideas and pain points arrive from the Feedback portal, from connected apps such as Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot and Salesforce, and from a CSV import. On the Clusters page, Generate Clusters groups the related items, then Identify more opportunities and Save Opportunity turn a cluster into an opportunity in Product Strategy.

Step 2: Ask Sage about it

Sage answers questions from your product's documents, feedback, strategy items and connected apps. Under each answer, Sage thinking process shows the steps it took and Supporting evidence lists what the answer rests on. Sage can also draft a persona, an opportunity or a solution for you to add to the product.

Step 3: Open the Evidence tab

On an objective, opportunity, solution or experiment, the Evidence tab shows the overall verdict, the item's claims, and the sources grouped as Feedback, Documents, Analytics and Related work. Confirm or Reject each piece of evidence, and Acknowledge or snooze a claim with a written reason.

Step 4: See it in the Tree view

Product Strategy switches between List, Kanban and Tree. The Tree view lays objectives, opportunities and solutions out as a hierarchy you can expand or collapse. Open an item and its page shows a claims line under the title, for example "4 claims · 2 backed · 1 evidence disagrees · 1 untested".

Step 5: Test the shaky parts

Plan the test by recording its hypothesis, intended participants, variants, success criteria and decision rule. Running experiments inside Shorter Loop is planned. Run the test using suitable external tools and document the results for the team’s review.

Step 6: Review the integrity findings

Set a Discovery schedule of Every day or Every week, or click Run now. The checks report named problems against your product, among them Contradicted claims, Important claims without supporting evidence, Work started without validation and Evidence that may be outdated, each with the document and the exact words behind it.

Evidence Tab

Open One Item and See What It Rests On

Open any objective, opportunity, solution or experiment. Under the title is a line that reads something like "4 claims, 2 backed, 1 evidence disagrees, 1 untested". Click it to open a claim, then Open evidence to see the sources behind it: the feedback, documents, analytics or related work that support or contradict it. The claims are the statements your team wrote into the item itself; the customer material you have collected is what those statements get checked against. Turn on Review mode and each claim is marked beside the description as you read. Check claims runs a review on demand. This is the whole idea in one screen. Six months after a decision, the item still carries the reason it was made and whether that reason has since been contradicted.

Meet The Shorter Loop Team

A product-focused team building software for evidence-based decisions.

Portrait of Kinshuk Kale, Founder of Product & Strategy

Kinshuk Kale

Founder, Product & Strategy

Engineer, architect, coach, and product leader. Started Shorter Loop after seeing the same failure repeat from different seats: decisions outliving the evidence they were built on.

Portrait of Dinesh Rawat, Co-founder of Engineering

Dinesh Rawat

Co-founder, Engineering and Technology

Dinesh started building software at the age of 13 and hasn't stopped since. He joined Kinshuk as a co-founder because he genuinely loves building technology that helps people do things they couldn't do before. That belief has kept him working on Shorter Loop through several generations of the product, and AI has opened up an entirely new set of possibilities. He knows virtually every part of the system, from its application architecture to the infrastructure underneath it, and has led the technical evolution of the product as it grew from its original form into what it is today.

Devendra Nadh

Head of GTM

Devendra leads customer discovery, sales, partnerships, marketing, and account management at Shorter Loop. He starts with the customer’s problem, not a script. If the pitch doesn’t fit what the buyer is actually trying to do, he throws out the pitch. He treats sales as a process of listening, learning, and building relationships around problems worth solving .He has little interest in theater. The goal is not to sound impressive. The goal is to make sure the customer can do something they couldn’t do before — and that Shorter Loop can stand behind the claim.

Portrait of Deepika Patial, Founding Engineer

Deepika Patial

Founding Engineer

Deepika is a full-stack engineer who works across Shorter Loop, taking product ideas from early discussions through implementation and into production. Deepika is a full-stack engineer who cares a lot about making software simpler. She has little patience for unnecessary complexity, including when Kinshuk or Dinesh are the ones proposing it. She believes good software should be simple, focused, and do what it promises without making the user work for it. Her love of art shows up in the care she brings to the details, but she will choose usefulness over decoration every time.

Anushka Litoria

Founding Marketing Manager

Anushka is the guardian of Shorter Loop’s messaging, positioning, and voice. She believes companies should write for people, not search engines or AI bots, and that useful communication requires having an opinion rather than repeating what everyone else already says. Everything we publish on this website goes through her, including fact-checking the claims we make. She pushes us to say what we actually mean, and to make sure we can stand behind it.

Krishna Vamshi

Business Development Representative

Krishna is Shorter Loop’s newest teammate and our Business Development Representative. He researches prospects, markets, and product organizations to understand who might genuinely have a problem Shorter Loop can help solve. He joined because he would rather understand a prospect before contacting them than work from a cold script. For Krishna, good outbound starts with doing the homework.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best software for evidence management?

For a product team, the useful test is whether you can open a roadmap item and see what it rests on. In Shorter Loop, feedback, documents and analytics come in as evidence, your strategy items carry the claims they make, and each claim shows whether that evidence backs it. Sage answers questions from the same material, so when someone asks why an item was planned, the team looks in one place.
